About the founder.

Shafeeq A. Qaasim is the founder of the Los Angeles Special Bulletin. It was created in 1991 in effort to let our non-Muslim neighbors know that we are believers in the Almighty Creator- Allah(swt) and His Messengers. I ask Allah(swt) to forgive me for my sins and past deeds. I began writing this newspaper as an article called "The ABC's of Islam" in a local community newspaper. It was a misunderstanding based on the book "Understanding Islam" by  Abul a'la Maududi. At that time I thought the book was excellent, only to find out later that he was an innovator. Sheikh Muqbil has referred to him as one of the Imams of Innovation (see various refutations of Maududi). I know now that we should not speak without knowledge and I ask Allah(swt) to forgive me for writing about Maududi.

Speak the Truth.

"And do not follow that of which you have no knowledge...

(Al-Qur'an 17:36)

Seek knowledge before you speak. Speak something good or be quiet. "If one speaks about Al-Qur'an by his mere opinion, then he is sinful, even if he said the truth" (At-Tirmidhi).
